I meet and work with many entrepreneurs and SMEs, they really inspire me! Having worked in the corporate world and then taken the leap to set up my own business, I too am an entrepreneur and I can completely relate to my clients. The drive to run your own business, it really takes guts and determination. You give up so much in pursuit of your passion and what makes you feel so alive, it's risky, it's stressful but it's also highly rewarding and a real adventure!
I was driven to set up my business when I couldn't find a part-time marketing role after my daughter was born. I had years of marketing experience and qualifications and I didn't want this to go to waste, but I also didn't want to work full time, so I thought, right, let's do it! I'm going to set up my own business.
It was hard at first, earning very little and finding my way in the freelance world, while also being a mum to a one-year-old. Friends saying "wouldn't you be better off getting a job with a company, is this really worth the stress?" This gave me even more drive and determination to succeed.
And, here I am, 9 years later, still going strong, fulfilling my dream of self-employment. The past few months have been incredibly hard for us all, but I'm certain that running my own business is still the right path for me. It's so rewarding supporting other SMEs, helping them to grow their own businesses, I really do love my work!
My advice, keep moving forward and focus on your objectives. It might feel like you're climbing a mountain at times and never reaching the top, but every action you take to grow and build your business further, means you're one step closer to achieving your goals.
